IS THIS THE WORLD’S TOUGHEST BIKE RACE?

Yes

It takes a particular kind of person to want to race off-road across high alpine passes. Especially when there is no prize at stake. The Silk Road Mountain Race is a single-stage 1670 kilometre cycle race following gravel, single and double track and old soviet roads through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. The closest thing to a prize is making the after party and the glory that comes with finishing. The late Mike Hall famously said, “Nothing that’s worth anything is ever easy,” a sentiment which the race organisers clearly stood proudly by for the inaugural edition of the event.

Wild Horses documents the struggle experienced by the riders of the Silk Road Mountain Race in 2018.
